Packing is one of the most important factors in ensuring a successful move.  Heavily used boxes or using the wrong boxes, can bring losses and damages.  Packing items incorrectly can result in the same.  It is imperative that boxes pass the recommended crush test for the weight of the items being carried within.  Because of this, boxes packed by owner are excluded from valuation protection.

Prohibited and Restricted Items

 For your safety and protection, some items are either excluded from valuation protection or prohibited for transit with American Knights altogether.The following items are either excluded or restricted:

  • Furniture made of particle board is not meant to be moved and does not hold up.  For this reason, we cannot include these items in valuation protection.
  • Items of excessive value (estimated at over $100/lb.) are not recommended.
  • Boxes packed by owner are excluded from coverage.  Boxes packed by owner are often packed in used boxes, boxes that don't pass the crush test for the times contained within, are not packed correctly, or are packed using cheaper materials that become compromised when exposed to elements.  Therefore, boxes packed by owner are not covered in valuation protection.
  • It is recommended that customers transport all sensitive documents and memorabilia themselves as these items are often irreplaceable.
  • Hazardous Materials are prohibited from transport for safety reasons. Please see the below for a detailed list of these items.
